Langley Township Fire Department halls are throwing open their doors to the community they serve.

The public can head Fire Hall Family Night open houses at the seven Township sites on one of two evenings.

People attending can enjoy an inside look at our community fire halls. Meet local firefighters, climb aboard fire trucks, and join hands-on demonstrations of firefighting equipment. Everyone is welcome, and the open houses all run 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Tuesday, June 11

• Fire Hall 3 - Aldergrove, 26316 30A Ave.

• Fire Hall 5 - Brookswood, 20355 32 Ave.

• Fire Hall 6 - Murrayville, 22170 50 Ave.

• Fire Hall 7 - Otter, 3876 248 St.

Wednesday, June 12

• Fire Hall 2 - Fort Langley, 23137 96 Ave.

• Fire Hall 4 - Willoughby, 20253 72 Ave.

• Fire Hall 8 - Walnut Grove, 9580 208 St.

Firefighters are on hand to show off their halls but if an emergency call comes in, some may have to leave the open houses.

Parking is not allowed at the halls but on the streets nearby.

Many activities will be happening outside, so people are advised to dress for the weather.

Meet Asher

The Township’s new fire department mascot has been unveiled. Asher the Fire Dog will be at some of the open houses.

“Asher’s mission is to promote fire safety in the Township of Langley,” said chief Jason de Roy. “Asher will be lending a paw to firefighters, teaching children how to stop, drop and roll, attending community events and more. We’re delighted to have Asher on our team.”

Asher was named by Nadine Krikke’s Grade 6 class at Credo Christian School, through a contest that was open to all public and private elementary school classes in the Township. The winning class will receive a pizza party, goodie bags, and visit with Asher and firefighters in June.

“There were many excellent and creative names to choose from,” added de Roy. “It was not an easy decision, but in the end, we decided Asher was the perfect name.”
