Seminar to raise funds for girls conference

Duct tape can be used for everything. But can it be used to fix a teenager?

Duct tape can be used for everything, from holding up a car bumper to putting it on a hockey stick for grip. But can it be used to fix a teenager?

Award-winning researcher and author of How to Raise a Teenager without Using Duct Tape, Jay Timms will offer an entertaining and insightful seminar and fundraiser on Monday, May 28 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Chief Sepass Theatre.

Timms will share his unique perspective on raising teenagers, while also helping raise money for the Langley Fine Arts School Girls Conference.

Every two years, LFAS counsellor Janice Orlando puts on the conference for girls between the ages of seven and 13.

The conference teaches girls how to build confidence in themselves, to discover their individual strengths, improve physical health, and “helps them to accept themselves for the amazing people that they are,” said Orlando.

“It is a really great event but requires some fund raising to make it possible.

“Our last one attracted 130-plus girls and I was able to raise over $2,000 from donations, a Yoga-Thon and T-shirt sales.”

Tickets to the duct tape author seminar are available at Langley Fine Arts, or online at lfasducttape.info for $10 per person or $15 per couple.

Tickets at the door will be $15 per person.
