Painting, drawing, photography, sculpture or in written form such as poetry or stories – any artistic medium is accepted in the annual You’ve Gotta Have Friends community art show during Arts Alive.
“We welcome everyone, young and old, to submit creative works that express a sense of celebration. This is open to all members of the community and in any form that strikes your fancy,” said Pat Weibelzahl, with YGHF.
There’s no entry fee and the only criteria – the piece must be able to be hung or displayed and that it fits the theme Expressions of Celebration.
The pieces will be on display outside the YGFH office at 20510 Fraser Hwy.
“We are located in McBurney Lane… and with the Arts Alive main stage located just outside our door lots of people are drawn into the office to view the show and vote for their favorite pieces,” she said.
People have until 4 p.m. on Aug. 17 to drop off their works at the YGHF office which is open Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Dixieland music will fill the air of Douglas Park on Aug. 12. That’s when You’ve Gotta Have Friends has its latest Boppin’ in the Park, the monthly summer shows.
From 6 to 8 p.m., the public can enjoy the free, family-friendly concert sure to get people up on their feet and dancing.
The Aug. 12 show features the band Red Beans and Rice.
