Turkeys will be grateful for meatless holiday potluck in Langley

The Langley Herbivores are hosting a vegan Thanksgiving potluck on Oct. 8.

A local advocate for vegetarianism is inviting the public to the First Compassionate Thanksgiving Dinner Potluck on Oct. 8.

“Vancouver has had Compassionate Thanksgiving Dinner for five years now, Victoria has started one also. This is the first annual one for the Fraser Valley,” Patricia Tallman explained. “The premise is showing gratitude without having to kill someone – a turkey.”

Tallman founded the group Langley Herbivores to advocate against eating meat.

The event runs 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Windsong Cohousing Dining Room, 20543 96th Ave. The price is $6 per person and people must register in advance. Seating is limited to 40 people. Part of the dinner will be catered by a vegan chef. People attending are asked to bring a potluck dish with six servings.
