Trinity Western University President Bob Kuhn will be swapping his suit and tie for a leather jacket and motorcycle helmet on Oct. 7, when he plans to participate in a cost-to-cost motorcycle ride for Parkinson’s research.
Kuhn has completed several long distance rides for the cause since he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in January 2006.
“I want to share my adventure with others who have Parkinson’s, and in doing so encourage them to have their own adventures, be daring and stretch outside their comfort zone”, Kuhn said.
“It’s important to show people with Parkinson’s that they can accomplish extraordinary things, despite this disease.”
From October 7 to 9, Kuhn, along with fellow motorcyclist Andrew Westlund, will make the roughly 2,400 mile, 50 hour, coast-to-coast “50 CC” trip, beginning in San Diego, California and ending in Jacksonville, Florida.
The ride, in partnership with the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, is part of the Iron Butt Association, made up of over 50,000 members who are dedicated to safe long distance motorcycle riding.
In addition to making several motorcycle trips for the cause, Kuhn also speaks regularly on the subject and has a blog, Positively Parkinson’s.
