Aldergrove’s new community centre pool has a new name thanks to sponsorship from the Otter Co-op.

The pool and waterpark at the Aldergrove Credit Union Community Centre (ACUCC) will be named the Otter Co-op Outdoor Experience, Langley Township officials announced Friday.

“We continue to watch construction progress, and over the next several months the ACUCC will really begin to take shape,” said Township Mayor Jack Froese. “We will have a lot to celebrate when it opens to the public on the Canada Day long weekend.”

Co-op CEO Jack Nicholson was on hand, saying he was pleased that the Co-op was contributing the $250,000 towards the facility, and to work with the Aldergrove Credit Union as fellow local cooperatives.

The new center includes an ice arena, an indoor walking and jogging track, meeting rooms, and an extensive outdoor water park including a 25-metre pool under an awning and a number of water slides and spray park amenities.

The new community centre will replace the existing, aging outdoor Aldergrove Pool and the current ice arena.

Located in the 27000 block of Fraser Highway, it’s intended as one of the building blocks in a revitalization of Aldergrove’s downtown.

The project is scheduled to be open on the Canada Day long weekend, and as of this month it remains on schedule.
