VIDEO: Good turnout for Family Day at historic Fort Langley

The Fort Langley National Historic Site marked Family Day 2025 with activities based around exploring biodiversity.

• Meet a Real Owl: Get up close with a raptor from Orphaned Wildlife (OWL).

• Discover the World of Beavers: Join a Metro Vancouver Regional Park Interpreter on how beavers shape and create wetlands, their critical role as keystone species, and ways you can help protect vital wetland habitats.

• Kids could enjoy a scavenger hunt, try gold panning, or unleash creativity at the colouring station.

• Learn about Indigenous Plants: Learn about Indigenous plants and traditional medicine with elder Hazel Gludo.

• Animal Tracks, Scats & Skulls:  Kwantlen First Nation elder Karen Gabriel explores how First Nations people used animals for clothing, tools, and more. See real animal scats, vinyl replicas, life-size paws and tracks, and learn how kids identified animal signs for hunting and gathering.

• Wildlife Photography: Discover the art of wildlife photography with Parks Canada interpreter and amateur photographer Ann Birnie.

The historic site is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and regular admission rates apply, but entry is free for those 17 and younger.
