VIDEO: Family day at heritage train station in Fort Langley

Close look at once working railway station

Family Day Open House kicked off B.C. Heritage Week at the CNR Station in Fort Langley on Monday, Feb. 17.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. visitors to the historic venue at 23245 Mavis Ave., near the tracks, could discover the real-life stories of a once working railway station. Inside Fort Langley’s original Canadian Northern Railway station, there's exhibits in the waiting room, telegraph office, and freight room.

A new display is devoted to life of the black porters who worked on the trains many years ago.

People were able to climb aboard a 1947 passenger car where children could enjoy a large wooden train table and book reading area along with the  model HO railway operating in the adjoining 1920s CNR caboose.

Children could seal a letter from the train agent with a wax stamp.
