VIDEO: Langley City’s library bids farewell to winged visitors

Children and adults were fascinated by painted lady butterflies that were released Thursday.

The public was invited to watch a butterfly release on Thursday morning. The Langley City Library had reared the insects in the branch in recent weeks.

For the second summer in a row, the Langley City branch of the Fraser Valley Regional Library allowed patrons to see the life cycle of painted lady butterflies.

Caterpillars were housed in a special enclosure that allowed people to watch them grow and change into butterflies. A total of 25 were reared with two not having proper wing development.

The public was invited to the release on the morning of June 8, in Douglas Park.
