The Langley–Aldergrove MP visited the 100-year-old museum and talked phones with Alder Grove Historical Society (AGHS) president David Hockin.

In a video that was posted Friday to his social media, Mark Warawa introduces Hockin to the camera, touting him as the man “in charge.”

“Ring, Ring! Hello? Mark calling for Dave at the Alder Grove Heritage Society Telephone Museum,” The video’s caption reads.

Warawa goes on to probe Hockin about the oldest telephone in the museum, to which the AGHS president responds as being a model from 1891 – the first telephone being patented just 15 years earlier.

“It’s quite amusing to watch the young kids today try to figure out how to actually work the dials,” Hockin remarked about school-aged visitors at the museum.

“Some try to poke their fingers in… its not a push button,” he said, testing out the rotary phone lugs himself.

Warawa encouraged families to come and experience the museum in the heart of Langley and Aldergrove.

“[He] was so impressed with the museum and its projects that he joined the Alder Grove Heritage Society. He will also be bringing other family members - especially his grandsons, for a visit,” the AGHS posted to Facebook after the visit.
