Walnut Grove residents will be able to hear the sounds of giving when the annual neighbourhood tour takes place Dec. 18.

From six to 8:30 p.m. Walnut Grove firefighters, along with family and supporters, will tour the streets.

Carolling with Santa has become a popular annual holiday tradition, starting and ending at the firehall.

The forecast calls for precipitation but also warmer temperatures.

The tour is an opportunity to meet local firefighters and donate non-perishable food or cash for the Langley Food Bank.

That event will be preceded by the Candy Cane Run in Murrayville on Saturday, Dec. 17.

A special holiday convoy will be travelling streets around Murrayville. The Candy Cane Run is hosted by the firefighters of Township fire hall 6.

“Come say hello to Santa and your local paid-call firefighters.  They’ll be playing Christmas tunes and driving through the area on their fire trucks,” said organizer Shawn Saran, a local firefighter.

Santa is part of the annual convoy that will also be helping the Langley Food Bank. People can make donations of non-perishable foods or money.

“Last year, the Candy Cane Run raised just over $1,600 in cash donations and collected seven large bins of food for the food bank,” he noted.

The Candy Cane Run happens from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
