Langley’s Kevin Kim took a trip to the beach with family while visiting Korea and the 2018 Winter Olympics.

But everyone was bundled up in parkas as the region experiences unseasonably cold weather.

Kim is in Korea to create a multimedia piece on behalf of an international company sponsoring the Games.

The Grade 12 student at Walnut Grove Secondary also sent back photos and video of the men’s curling final that saw Team Canada take on Team USA. Unfortunately Team Canada lost.

“It was still a great game, and each side had an incredible amount of people cheering them on,” he said.

He’s been to the Olympic Park to film and ad a chance to swing by Canada House “where all the Canadian fans can gather to cheer on for their country together.”

As with any Olympics, the host nation undergoes a building boom to provide amenities for all those who flood into the country. Kim showed a highway rest stop and though he was born in Korea, these are something new for him.

“It’s basically a gas stop on steroids. They are huge and have a variety of restaurants in them,” he explained. “They seem to be common all throughout the highways in Korea.”
