Jim Byrnes will perform this Saturday at Blues over the Valley, a fundraiser for the Canadian Museum of Flight in Langley.

The folks at the Canadian Museum of Flight may spend their fair share of time up in the air, but that doesn’t mean they don’t also know how to get down.

This Saturday, May 14, the museum presents Blues over the Valley, a fundraising evening featuring local wine, southern style barbecue and live music performed by the legendary Jim Byrnes.

The event, which costs $75 per person, includes wine tasting from the cellars of Domaine de Chaberton and gastronomic delights, hot off the grill, from Memphis Blues Barbecue House.

Byrnes, an actor and blues musician who was born in St. Louis, Missouri, has long been a staple on the Vancouver music scene.

Of course, no airport event would be complete without a fly past from the Fraser Blues formation team.

It all happens in the Canadian Museum of Flight hangar (#3-5333 216 St.) at Langley Municipal Airport. Doors open at 6 p.m.; fly past is at 6:30 p.m. For tickets, call 604-532-0035.
