The Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation received a generous Christmas donation of $24,000, thanks to the organizers and 160 guests at the Christmas with Mark and Colleen Donnelly charity concert.

The event, held at Murrayville Hall on Dec. 16, was organized by Hung Vuong as a thank you to Langley Memorial Hospital for saving his son’s life 18 years ago.

When asked what prompted him to put this event together, Vuong answered, “for me, it’s about giving back to the community for what God has provided to me and my family.”

Vuong credits his organizing committee, made up of Laura and Shane Westman, Sylvie and Brian Ferrar, Joni Coombs, Adera Angelucci, Cody Vangaans, Maria Pettitt, Cuong Vuong and Garry Heinrichs, for the success of the evening.

They spent many long hours sourcing out donations and auction items, putting up posters, setting up and cleaning up the venue and many other tasks.

When they learned that the event far surpassed their fundraising goal, Vuong said, “I was in tears, I cried. It was a blessing from the community.

“I was overwhelmed.”

Providing the funds to purchase urgently-needed equipment fulfills Vuong’s desire to provide community service at a local level.

“This donation means a lot to me because of the impact it will have on families in Langley,” he said.
