Dress in pioneer type clothing and admission to the 37th annual Country Celebration is free.
Metro Vancouver hosts the event in Campbell Valley Regional Park as a way to honour the country roots of the Lower Mainland. Country Celebration this year is Sept. 19 and 20, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
Things to check out this year – a bike powered main stage, circus skills workshops, a hay bale maze, kite-making, raku pottery workshops, story telling, llamas, cow milking demonstrations, live raptors and more. The Mobile Dairy Classroom will be on site Sunday.
People can also enjoy square dancers, Bobs and Lolo, various bands, and Celtic dancers on stage in addition to roving performers.
A new addition will be food trucks offering up everything from perogies to Filipino cuisine to mini donuts to freshly squeezed lemonade, in addition to classic country fare.
People are encouraged to bring a water bottle as Metro Vancouver will have tap water available for drinking.
Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for those seven to 12 and free for those younger. Seniors are also admitted free. So are those dressed in pioneer garb.
Dogs are allowed on a leash.

Langley’s Dallas Smith was on the other coast to pick up his Juno for Album of the Year (for Lifted).
The Canadian Country Music Association Awards were presented this past weekend and Smith opened the show with his song Cheap Seats.
Two artists
Don Portelance and Richard Bond are displaying at the Fort Gallery in a show called Two Directions which runs Sept. 16 to Oct. 4.
The opening reception is Saturday, 1 to 4 p.m.
Bond is a former art teacher, based in Surrey. His current work of oil paintings tries to capture the rhythmical pattern of movement on paper with the human figures as the subject.
Portelance offers his own unique view of the world through his works.
