Langley Community Music School welcomes the Brad Turner Trio on April 14.

Featuring Juno award winner and LCMS alumnus Brad Turner on piano, Darren Radtke on bass and Bernie Arai on drums, the trio will perform lively jazz numbers, including work from their latest CD Here Now.

Pianist Brad Turner is a three-time Juno award winner, and considered one of Canada’s most in-demand and highly esteemed jazz musicians. Described as a “triple threat,” Turner is also an accomplished trumpeter, drummer and composer. He has performed and/or recorded with such artists as Joe Lovano, Bill Frisell, Kenny Wheeler, John Scofield, Reneé Rosnes, Ingrid Jensen, Dave Douglas, Mike Murley, Seamus Blake, Christine Jensen, Kenny Werner, Dee Daniels, Mark Guiliana and Ernie Watts.

Darren Radtke (bass) is also nationally acclaimed, having gained notoriety for his work with Denzil Sinclair’s Juno nominated album titled I Found Love, as well as his work for Nintendo, creating music for such video games as Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, which has sold over 5 million copies. He has also worked with such notable performers as Martin Short, Cedar Walton, Ernie Watts, Michael Bubble, Don Rickles and Joan Rivers.

Bernie Arai (drums and cymbals) is also a recording artist, composer and educator, working percussion and electronic music, spanning a variety of styles, from jazz and improvised music to traditional Japanese. He has also worked with some of Canada’s most accomplished musicians, touring across Canada, the United States, Japan and Europe.

“We are thrilled to welcome back LCMS alumnus Brad Turner with his trio,” says LCMS artistic director Elizabeth Bergmann. “Building on the success they achieved with their earlier recording, Question the Answer, their latest CD deserves all of the superlatives it has received. They are an amazing ensemble, and we are looking forward to hearing them in Rose Gellert Hall.”

The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults, $22 for seniors, $16 for students, and $10 for LCMS students. Call the box office at 604-534-2848 or visit langleymusic.com.
