World-renowned ukulele musician James Hill is making a hometown appearance this Saturday (July 23) with a free concert in McBurney Plaza.

On from noon to 3 p.m., Hill will be joined by cellist and songwriter Anne Janelle for an afternoon of lively music.

Hill, who was born in Langley and first learned to play the ukulele at Belmont Elementary School, has travelled the world playing the tiny four-string instrument.

Last year, his album The Old Silo was nominated for a Juno Award, and he launched a new online video teaching system for his first-of-its-kind ukulele teacher certification program.

Hill will be performing in Langley as part of the McBurney Plaza Summer Series. Arrive early to stake out a spot and visit the musical playground, filled with unique instruments made from salvaged and upcycled materials.

McBurney Plaza is located on Fraser Highway at 205 Street.
