When voting cuts off at 5 p.m. (ET) today, Langley's Shawn Meehan hopes his band will have earned a much coveted chance to perform during Country Music Week in Ontario.
His band, Me and Mae, has been chosen by the B.C. Country Music Association to represent the province in a nation-wide competition. But whether they get to make the trip back east in September is dependent on online voting, explained Meehan, the band's lead singer and founder.
"It's such a thrill to be representing British Columbia this year," Meehan said.
"This could be a big deal for us… Winning this contest and being able to play to the heart of the Canadian country music industry at the CCMA's (Canadian Country Music Awards) would be a great honour for the band."
The band consists of Meehan, as well as bandmates Colette Trudeau, Adam Reid, Ben Parker, and Joe Fazio.
Me and Mae is up against nine other bands across the country in what is called the CCMA Spotlight Performance Contest. And, if they make the cut, Me and Mae will perform at the CCMA awards.
