Coronado Symphony String Orchestra, based in Texas, will perform alongside LCMS ensembles during a concert in Rose Gellert Hall on Monday, June 18.

Langley Community Music School welcomes the Coronado Symphony String Orchestra to the Rose Gellert Hall on June 18, at 7:30 p.m. Heralded as one of the finest youth orchestras in the USA’s southwest region, the group will feature works by Sir Edward Elgar, John Williams and others, in an upbeat concert that will also include performances by the LCMS concert orchestra and LCMS cello ensemble.

“We are thrilled host this prestigious group of young musicians at our school as part of their British Columbia tour," said Susan Magnusson, LCMS principal.

"It will be a great experience for our students. The concert is free of charge, and I hope the community will come out and welcome this terrific youth orchestra.”

Under the direction of Ida Steadman, the young musicians have performed all over the world including in Japan, Canada, and Europe — where they took first place at the prestigious Youth and Music Festival in Vienna, Austria.

They have also performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City,  in Chicago in the prestigious Fourth Presbyterian Church and also by invitation for the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Convention. They have been selected three times as the State Honor Orchestra by the Texas Music Educators Association.

Admission is free. The Rose Gellert Hall is located at 4899 207 St.
