A Langley dancer is taking on a new theatrical challenge this month in a performance with no story, no plot and no actors.

Delia Brett will serve as a “performer-deviser” in Cinerama, a performance of weather, water and tide that immerses the viewer in a live cinema on the shifting sands of the low tide flats.

Running at Spanish Banks in Vancouver June 15-18, 21-30, all performances will happen outdoors, at low tide.

Cinerama is created by Steven Hill and Alex Lazaridis Ferguson of Fight With a Stick. They have worked in collaboration with Scott Billings (installation design), Elissa Hanson (performer-deviser), Josh Hite (performer-deviser), Natalie Purschwitz (installation design), Diego Romero (performer-deviser), Nancy Tam (sound design) and Paula Viitanen (technical direction).

Fight With a Stick seeks to create immersive audience experiences with a focus on the dramaturgy of performance space and the nature of the spectator-performer encounter.
