Two Langley locals are performing a new take on Christmas this weekend with their upcoming performance of A Hillbilly Christmas.

Langley couple Lenore and Marc Allen make up the entertainment duo called The Humbleton’s, who wrote songs and scripted A Hillbilly Christmas.

A Hillbilly Christmas is a comedy puppet show that’s appropriate for the entire family.

“It’s a family event. We make a lot of people say ‘I have not laughed like that in a long time,’” said Lenore.

A Hillbilly Christmas is described as “a good ol’ down home hand clapping, knee slapping, hillbilly Christmas.”

The show features the Pentab Praise Singers, Shaggy Baggy Buttom Boys, a black light puppet show, and various skits.

But the show also has a serious component.

The performance is a fundraiser sponsored by Pentab of BC for the SonBurst of Hope Ministries which is raising money for impoverished women and families in the Caribbean.

“Our heart is for the families,” added Lenore.

The show begins at 2 p.m. on Dec. 1 at the Mary Pattison Chapel at Pacific Academy on 10238 168 St. in Surrey.

Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for children. Children under 5 are free.
