Langley women perform at choral fest

Two Langley women will be among some 185 voices raised in song May 2-4 at Chorfest 2014, the annual festival of choral singing.

This event is hosted by EnChor, a Lower Mainland-based choir for experienced singers of 55 years of age or older.

Diane McConnell and Nancy Wolchock are members of EnChor.

Singers attend from all around the province and the event will culminate in them performing a world premiere of a specially commissioned piece.

Chorfest takes place at the Chan Centre in Vancouver with the gala concert on the afternoon of May 4.

The gala concert is the culmination of three days of intensive work by the 185 singers under Swedish musician Robert Sund, who was invited by Chorfest 2014 to be this year’s conductor/clinician.

Also featured in the concert will be the British Columbia Youth Choir and EnChor.

BCCF Chorfest 2014 “Spring Into Song” is the 37th annual. Each year the Chorfest is held in a different community, organized and hosted by a local choir from that area. They choose a different national or international conductor/clinician of their choice. Last year Chorfest was held in Nanaimo, this year in Vancouver, and next year it will be in Vernon.
