Langley's Watershed blends visual and audio art

Langley’s Quintessential Jazz Band will be performing at the Watershed Cafe in Walnut Grove Friday night.

They've dubbed it Acrylic Jazz at the Watershed.

Sunshine Coast artist Lori Morris will team up with Langley’s Quintessential Jazz Band for an evening of Acrylic Jazz at the Watershed Arts Cafe tonight (Friday Nov. 25 at 7 p.m.

Morris is an established artist and custom home designer who paints bold Sunshine Coast inspired landscapes and seascapes in the medium of acrylic.

Her self-proclaimed" refreshing style of artwork is on display at the Watershed for the entire month of November.

Since she's long-time friends with members of Langley’s Quintessential Jazz band, Morris will show her works to the sounds of live jazz.

“We plan on playing an evening of upbeat ‘in your face’ jazz inspired by Lori’s vivid artistic style” said bassist Gerry Teichrob.

“We have enjoyed the opportunity to play jazz on the Sunshine Coast for a few shows, we are happy Lori can come to Langley and share her work on our turf.”

Quintessential Jazz Band has been a fixture in the Langley area since 2005 playing “classic jazz with a twist,” Teichrob explained.

The other members of the band are Doug Dunbar on guitar and sax, Phyllis Heppner on keyboard, and Tyler Friesen on drums.
