Local artists Gabrielle Strauss and Jeanie Shilton are welcoming spring with a new exhibit.
Magnificent Trees and Beautiful Blooms is on public display at the Walkway Gallery in the Timms Centre until May 9.
Both artists have developed a contemporary, interpretive style and vibrant colour palette in their paintings, resulting in an uplifting exhibit for the spring season.
“Most of the paintings you will see at this show are inspired from bouquets I created from my garden. I find there’s something magical about backyard beauties,” said Strauss.
“Trees truly are magnificent,” added Shilton. “They have stood often for hundreds of years through many winter storms and sun blistering summer days. Their longevity and strength inspires me to keep painting them.”
The public is welcome to attend a reception with the artists on Friday, April 13 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Timms Centre, 20399 Douglas Cres.
All art in the exhibit is for sale.
