Music fundraiser celebrates movie magic

It’s showtime! Music from the Movies is being held at the Langley Community Music School’s (LCMS) annual Faculty Benefit concert on Saturday, March 12 at 7:30 p.m.

The evening of movie music is drawn from many genres, from classical and jazz to show tunes.  Listen to such great works as the original theme from Spielberg’s film, Schindler’s List, the famous Por una Cabeza from Scent of a Woman, or Ed Sheeran’s song I See Fire from The Hobbit soundtrack. Savour many more powerful and moving movie magic sounds, from the historic ballad Over the Rainbow from The Wizard of Oz to modern day classics.

The event will feature performances by many of LCMS’s award-winning faculty, such as pianists Marcel and Elizabeth Bergmann of the Bergmann Duo, harpist Miya Otake, vocalists Liana Savard and Rachel Button, violinists Karina Slupski and Will Chen, and many more.

“It will be an enjoyable evening,” said LCMS’s principal Susan Magnusson.

“Our talented faculty performers have put together an inspiring and entertaining selection of music.  It will also support a good cause, with all proceeds going to support the school’s scholarship and bursary program.”

Tickets for this concert fundraiser are $25 for adults, $10 for students, and a family pass is $65 (two parents and their children). Proceeds will go in support of LCMS scholarships and bursaries.

LCMS’ Rose Gellert Hall is located at 4899 207 St.
