Next month's Rock Beats Cancer benefit concert in Coquitlam will feature a live auction of unique music memorabilia including a guitar donated by Loverboy's Paul Dean and signed by Sammy Hagar and Joe Satriani
Local rockers will gather on Thursday, Oct. 17 at Great Canadian Casino's theatre to perform and also pay tribute to drummer Rocket Norton (Prism, The Seeds of Time), who planned the annual shows and helped raise $660,000 for the BC Cancer Foundation before his death on April 5.
This time, the rebranded Rock Beats Cancer concert will feature members of Loverboy (Mike Reno, Dean), Chilliwack (Bill Henderson, Ab Bryant), Powder Blues Band (Tom Lavin), Lee Aaron Band (Lee Aaron, John Cody, Dave Reimer), Barney Bentall, Trooper’s Hot Shots (Tommy Stewart, Frank Ludwig, Doni Underhill, David Wills, Ray Roper), Streetheart (Jeff Neill, Paul McNair), Seeds of Time (Lindsay Mitchell, John Hall, Al Harlow) and others.
"As with previous years," noted Bill Allman, event presenter, "these musicians and friends have generously donated their time and talents for an undertaking that has touched each and every one of their lives, not to mention yours."
Tickets are sold on rockbeatscancer.com, and production costs are underwritten by Wheaton Precious Metals.
