A new opportunity for students to play in a high-level orchestra is coming to Langley.

The Langley School District Honour Orchestra is launching this summer to offer Langley students a platform to excel in music.

Directed by Langley Fine Arts School music teacher Rob Goddard, the ensemble will encompass upwards of 50 students playing both string and wind instruments.

From June 28-30, they will be holding auditions for their first season at the Kwantlen Polytechnic University auditorium at the Langley campus.

All students in Langley are welcome to try out. They are looking for players in a range of instruments, including trumpets, trombones, tubas, French horns, oboes, violins, violas, cellos, double bass and percussion.

There is no cost for students to join, and the time put in will count towards school credits.

To register for an audition spot, email music.goddard@gmail.com and provide your name, school, age, instrument and number of years of experience.

Rehearsals will be held every Wednesday evening, beginning in the fall.
