By sharing a subtle palette, understated imagery and a poetic sensibility, artists David Kimura and Suzanne Northcott have created an art show that is both powerful and calm.
Ode, an exhibition of photos by Kimura and paintings by his wife, Northcott, is running at the Fort Gallery Nov. 2 to 20.
In this collection, Kimura’s spare, evocative photographs and colour prints on aluminium, are arranged to suggest a subtle narrative. Space, between the pieces and in the work, speak to the unseen.
Northcott’s full moon paintings portray power and presence. There is a sense of abiding, patience and something unchanged in an ever shifting world.
Both artists will be speaking about their work during the “First Thursday” event at the gallery on Nov. 3.
The opening reception will take place on Nov. 11 from 7 to 9 p.m.
The Fort Gallery is located at 9048 Glover Rd.
