Photographers seek to capture simplicity

Amateur photographers from West Vancouver through to Chilliwack will converge on Fort Langley this weekend for a showdown.

They’re competing to find out who is the best in the region in the Fraser Valley Invitational, a competition hosted for the past 16 years by the Langley Camera Club.

Typically, there are about 250 people who turn out for the competition, which this year is set for Saturday, May 2.

Each year, the 15 participating clubs are given a shared theme. This year, it was simplicity. Club members are asked to enter their best digital images portraying that theme, then each club shortlists its best that are then sent to the invitational.

The event is being held at 7:30 p.m. in the Chief Sepass Theatre at the Langley Fine Arts School, 9096 Trattle St. in Fort Langley. Tickets are $16 in advance, $20 at the door. Doors open at 6 p.m. for a trade show and print exhibition.
