The Port Kells Arts Club is inviting Langley artists to join their membership.

The not-for-profit group of visual artists meets on the third Monday of each month at the Masonic Hall, 20701 Fraser Hwy, and offers three sessions of painting classes throughout the year.

The classes run for nine to 10 weeks from September to June, also at the Masonic Hall. They are led by guest instructors, including artists Lalita Hamill, Carmel Clare, Leo Hu, Kelly Ulrich and Georgina Johnstone, and cover mediums of oil, acrylic and watercolour.

The Port Kells Art Club was founded in 1962 by a group of eight painters who originally met at the Port Kells Community Hall, and is part of the Langley Arts Council, Surrey Arts Council and BC Arts Council.

Membership is open to all people who are interested in supporting the arts and supporting fellow artists. Every level of artist from beginner to experienced is welcome.

The club also hosts a minimum of two public arts shows per year. For 2018, they will have exhibitions at the Fort Langley Community Hall on April 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Nov. 11 from noon to 5 p.m.

For membership information, contact Gwen Murphy at 604-857-1994 or gwen@smedley.ca.
