Shot in the Dark Independent Film Nights presents Soul Kitchen tonight (Jan. 19) at Colossus Cinema in Walnut Grove. Showtime is 7:30 p.m.

Update:

Shot in the Dark Independent Film Night organizers were notified on Wednesday morning that there is a possibility they will not be able to get ‘Soul Kitchen’ in time for tonight’s screening. If that is the case, they will instead present ‘You Will Meet a Tall, Dark Stranger.'

Shot in the Dark Independent Film Night returns to Colossus tonight (Jan. 19) with Soul Kitchen.

The German film, which was an audience favourite at the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival, follows the proprietor of Soul Kitchen, a vast warehouse diner restaurant in a scruffy neighborhood of Hamburg where the food might be spectacularly bad, but it’s edible.

Regulars show up every day to chow down on bland lumps of carbs washed down by cheap beer. Boasting an eclectic soundtrack and filled with boisterous good spirits, Soul Kitchen is a madcap, Marx Brothers-style comedy that audiences will savour.

Seasons Passes for Shot in the Dark are available at Wendel’s in Fort Langley or at

Colossus on film night; $55 for any seven films. Tickets at the door for $10 — cash or cheque only.

All films are screened at Colossus theatres at 200 Street and 88 Avenue in Walnut Grove. Start time is 7:30 p.m.

A list of all previous films screened is now available on both Facebook and the group’s website at www.shotinthedark.ca.
