Barb Harris, a founding member of the Murrayville Performers (MVPs) is involved both on stage and behind the scenes with the club, which is holding a general meeting on Monday. Anyone with an interest in live theatre is invited to attend.

For the Murrayville Performers, the play’s the thing — and anyone with an interest in theatre is invited to join them in their endeavours.

The Langley-based community theatre company will host a general meeting on Monday, May 2, at 7 p.m., and it is the perfect opportunity for anyone who is curious about the world of live theatre to come out and see what it’s all about.

Formed two years ago, the MVPs have so far mounted three productions — A Simple Diagnosis in 2009, and Financial Deficit Disorder and Over the River and Through the Woods in 2010.

Their next show will be Dirty Work at the Crossroads, directed by Lorne Seifred.

The MVPs extend a welcome anyone interested in being a part of something different and, most often, lots of fun.

There are folks who are looking for something out of their normal activities and the MVPs are there to provide that outlet for them.

And it doesn’t all happen on stage — that is only the end result of a production. There is quite a life backstage — actors often help backstage, just to be part of the fun.

Come on out and see if theatre is something you would like to try.

The meeting will be held at the office of Langley Association for Community Living 22071 48 Ave. (this is a strip mall by the Murrayville Library) at the corner of 221 Street and 48 Avenue, entrance off 221 Street, next to the sushi restaurant.  Meet and greet at 7 p.m. with the AGM to follow.

For details or more information, call Barb 604-218-0197.

Not sure about joining a theatre group? Well, ask yourself:

Do you have a few spare evenings?

Would you like to get away from the TV and have some fun?

Ever wonder what it would be like to be involved in live theatre?

Can you donate some of your talent for one night or a full run?

Did you think live theatre means you have to be an actor?

Come and find out the answers to these and more as the Murrayville Performers plan their next year and productions.  Plan to join them and see if community theatre is something you would like to do with some of your spare time.

The MVPs are still looking for a lighting operator for their upcoming show.

Anyone who is interested is asked to call Kate Major at 604-514-0942.
