The Fort Langley National Historic Site will have chestnuts roasting on an open fire during Heritage Holidays at the Fort.

The Christmas in the Village Holiday Market hopes to pull in people in the same way Fort Langley did a century ago.

The market has made arrangements with the Paddlewheeler Riverboat Tours which will have a run from New Westminster to Fort Langley on Dec. 20.

The market itself runs Dec. 18, 19 and 20 at the Fort Langley Community Hall from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

This first annual market has a Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol theme.

Learn more at the event Facebook page (Christmas in the Village of Fort Langley).

Days of yore

The Fort Langley National Historic Site will have the chestnuts  roasting for the annual Heritage Holidays at the Fort.

The chestnuts will be roasting in the open fireplace of the holiday workshop from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Kids can do the old time crafts and take part in the the Twelve Days of Heritage Holiday scavenger hunt to earn a treat.

All ages can craft a handwritten letter with pen and ink. Watch hourly barrel-making and blacksmithing demonstrations.

Stop by the heritage themed photo booth.

At noon and 2 p.m., there’s the holiday-themed Fur Trade Wedding, in which members of the public might find themselves as bride or groom.

Heritage Holidays at the Fort runs Dec. 17 to 31 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Regular admission rates apply. The fort is closed Dec. 25 and 26.
