Langley’s Mike Parker, right, stars with Harry Pering and Michelle Collier in Vagabond Theatre’s Murder by the Book.

Langley’s Mike Parker, who directed Vagabond Players enchanting production of Goodnight Desdemona, Good Morning Juliet last season now returns to the Bernie Legge Theatre to play a key role in the delightful comedy/mystery, Murder by the Book.

Parker has performed with many Lower Mainland theatre groups, most recently playing a key role in Langley Players production of Bus Stop.

In Murder by the Book, Parker plays John Douglas, a befuddled publisher who gets caught in the crossfire between his vitriolic thriller-writer client, Selwyn Piper, and his venomous ex-wife, Imogen.

Adding to the fun is the bright young man next door who teams up with Selwyn’s attractive secretary and tries to solve the mystery.

Vagabond Players are delighted to open the new season with this clever and witty thriller, where crisp dialogue exchanges and clever plot twists will keep audiences laughing and guessing right up to the final curtain.

Directed by Jacqollyne Keath, Murder by the Book also stars Harry Pering as the acerbic writer, Selwyn Piper and Michelle Collier as his equally mean-spirited wife.

Twists and turns, laughs and surprises abound in this light-hearted thriller — black comedy at its best, and the perfect opener for the 2014-15 season.
