Abbotsford's Ryan Sheldrake has been dealt to the Langley Thunder.
The Thunder acquired Sheldrake's Junior A and Junior Tier 1 rights along with a 2026 first-round draft pick from the Burnaby Lakers in exchange for goaltender Brayden Wandler’s Junior A playing rights on Friday (June 14).
We are excited to announce the addition of Ryan Sheldrake from the Burnaby Lakers. Ryan was selected 4th overall this past year in the BCJALL draft and will compliment our young core going forward for the rest of this season and the next four. ⚡️ Welcome to the storm Ryan! pic.twitter.com/Ntl9PeHN1n

Sheldrake has had an excellent rookie season for Burnaby, scoring 15 goals and leading the team with 36 points despite only playing in six of Burnaby's 14 games. His 6.0 points per game are also tops in the BC Junior Tier 1 Lacrosse League.
Burnaby sits in ninth place in the 10-team BCT1LL with a record of 2-12. Langley is in sixth place at 7-7 and is riding a three-game win streak. The Thunder have four regular season games remaining and close out the season on July 3 against the Maple Ridge Burrards.
“We are excited to add a player of Ryan’s calibre to the Thunder organization,” said Ryan Williams, Langley’s assistant general manager and director of scouting. “He is a talented lefty offensive player who can play both sides of the floor and we can’t wait to see what he can do for us alongside some of the other young pieces we have assembled.”
Sheldrake was chosen by Burnaby with the fourth overall pick at the 2024 league entry draft in January.
He had an outstanding career as a youth player in Abbotsford for both box and field lacrosse. Notable achievements include winning gold in 2018 during his U13 year and securing bronze in the 2023 provincials with his U17 team. In 2021, he clinched gold at the US Box Nationals with the Fusion’s U15 team.
Sheldrake made local headlines in April when Burnaby and Langley played an exhibition game in Abbotsford on April 14.
