Otter Co-op's newest grocery store had a successful first time participating in the company-wide contest, awarding one lucky local winner a full year of free groceries.
Cloverdale's Jeff White was presented with his prize at the nine-month-old Cloverdale Co-op Essentials last week.
It was the first time for the new store to participate in the contest, but the third year that Otter Co-op hosted the competition.
Allison MacAllister, Essentials food store manager, said she is thrilled a local person won this year's prize.
"He was very happy, very excited. It was nice that it was a local person who shops in our store and lives in our neighbourhood," she told Black Press Media. "This contest was our way of saying thank you to our loyal guests, and we couldn't be happier to make a difference for Jeff and his family."
Other prizes given away during the eight-week 2025 promotion included free gas for a year, $1,000 gift cards, and $50 instant win gift card prizes, MacAllister explained.
There were also three $50 gift card winners at the Parallel Road Food Store in Abbotsford, Whistler Gas Bar, and Ladner Gas Bar.
In total, about 65,000 people entered the online contest.
