GivingTuesday is taking Langley by storm on Nov. 28.

Langley’s local charities have caught the GivingTuesday spirit and are banding together to inspire charitable acts of giving in Langley.

Following the successful shopping events, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, comes GivingTuesday. It’s a global charitable event that opens the giving season, explained Terra Scheer, a spokesperson for Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation.

“It’s a day for charities, businesses and individuals in Langley to join forces and share a commitment to support local causes that are making a difference,” she said.

Whether people choose to make a donation, volunteer their time, help an elderly neighbour, or work as an advocate and inspire others, GivingTuesday is a movement everyone can take part in, Scheer elaborated.

The #LangleyGives charity community, which included organizations such as the hospital foundation, Langley Hospice Society, Langley School District Foundation, and Volunteer Langley, will be hosting four drive-thru events to promote GivingTuesday and inspire donations on Tuesday, Nov. 28.

Langley residents are encouraged to attend one of the four locations for a fun and tasty GivingTuesday celebration.

Make a donation on site or take a selfie to help promote the GivingTuesday movement.

• 7 to 11 a.m. – “Get Up and Give” pancake breakfast locations at Langley Events Centre, 7888 200 St., Willoughby (hosted by the Vancouver Giants and Rich Coleman’s office), as well as the Royal Canadian Legion Aldergrove Branch, 26607 Fraser Hwy., (hosted by Volunteer Langley and Otter Co-op).

• 11a.m. to 1 p.m. – “Grill and Give” hotdog lunch locations in the Coast Hotel and Convention Centre parking lot, 20393 Fraser Hwy. (hosted by Langley Care Foundation), as well as Save-On-Foods, 8840 210th St. (hosted by Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation).

“We are also asking the community to help promote GivingTuesday by going online and using the hashtags #GivingTuesdayCa or #LangleyGives and sharing their stories on how they are giving back to their favourite charity,” Scheer said.
