Before entertaining theatre-goers in Vancouver and New Westminster, Langley director Ellie King is presenting her latest theatre production a little closer to home this week.

King and her theatre troupe, the Royal Canadian Theatre company, presents Funny Money, running Friday and Saturday, March 16 and 17 at Surrey Little Theatre.

Mild-mannered accountant Henry Perkins, on his way home on the SkyTrain, has picked up a briefcase full of money – $2.5 million to be exact.

King calls it one of the “funniest farces ever written,” noting it’s suitable for adult audiences looking for a good belly laugh. Tickets are at 604-501-5566 or tickets.surrey.ca.

Artists wanted

It’s year 25, and even though Arts Alive Festival is still six months away, the call is going out now for artists wanting to take part.

“We are now taking bookings for vendor space for Arts Alive 2018,” said Downtown Langley Business Association executive director Teri James.

“With more than 200 visual and performing artists, this must attend festival has become a signature event in the Lower Mainland,” James said.

It’s a free, family-oriented festival featuring artists, performers, artisans, and a children’s venue aimed at inspiring creativity in youngsters.
