  • Donations The Langley Literacy Association provides books for Langley Christmas Bureau gifts to children. The public can donate funds at the Langley Early Years Centre (in Willoughby Elementary) or by mail to the association, 20388 Douglas Cres., V3A 4B3.
  • Volunteers Help with Christmas in Williams Park. Public greeters: Dec. 1 to Dec. 15, 5 to 9:30 p.m. Take down: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 16 and 17. Sign up: 604-532-7350 or parksadmin@tol.ca.
  • Carolling Everyone is invited to McBurney Plaza on Dec. 1, 9, 15 and 23 for carol singing and hot chocolate between 5 and 7 p.m.
  • A Christmas Carol Theatre in the Grove presents the dinner show at 6:30 p.m. and the play only at 7:30 p.m. from Wednesday to Saturday until Dec. 2. Tickets: theatreinthecountry.com.
  • Glow The light display and market at Milner Village Garden Centre, 6690 216th St., is open until Dec. 30. Food trucks, live entertainment, light gardens, pop up shops, and more. Tickets: $19.95 in advance or $25 at the door for adults, $14.95 in advance and $20 at the door for children and seniors. Families: $60 online or $80 at the door. Info: glowchristmas.ca.

Nov. 30

  • Live charity auction The 23rd annual Murrayville Town Pub, 22070 48A Ave., starts at 7 p.m. on Nov. 30. Bid on collectibles, sports memorabilia, gifts, toys, and much more.   • Christmas market The Walnut Grove Business Association and Kids in the Grove host a market 6 to 9 p.m. on Nov. 30 in West Langley Hall, 9400 208th St. Local businesses, artisans, live entertainment, samples, wine and spirit tasting, and more.

Dec. 2

  • Kids bird count Learn basic birding skills at this free Christmas bird count for kids 9 a.m. to noon on Dec. 2 in Campbell Valley Regional Park. For ages eight to 14. Must be accompanied by an adult. Register in advance: 604-432-6359 or metrovancouveronline.org (event 7071). Presented by the Langley Field Naturalists.
  • 108th annual bazaar St. George’s Church, 9160 Church St., has its annual bazaar 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 2. Crafts, baking, books, holiday decor, children’s corner, lunch, and more are on offer. Info: stgeorgeanglican.ca.
  • Breakfast with Santa Enjoy pancakes, sausage, bacon, juice, milk and coffee with the jolly ol’ elf as well as crafts, face painting and a magic show on Dec. 2. Runs 9 to 11 a.m. at the Douglas Recreation Centre. $10. Info: 604-514-2940.
  • Polar Express Market Stop by Dorothy Peacock Elementary, 20292 91A Ave., for a holiday fair 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 2. The PAC has 20+ vendors, food trucks, a hot cocoa bar, poinsettias, candy cane lane crafts, and more. Admission $2 or canned food (all admission funds and food go to the Langley Food Bank).
  • Craft fair Lynn Fripps Elementary PAC, 21020 83rd Ave., has handmade and local items at a fair benefiting the school. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 2. $1 admission or bring a donation for the food bank.
  • Holiday market Nicomekl Elementary, 200th Street at 53rd Avenue., has free admission to its sale with more than 30 vendors, cookie decorating, prizes, and a silent auction. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 2. Santa is there 1 to 3 p.m. for photos with a minimum $5 donation. Fair benefits Encompass Support Services Society.
  • Craft market The James Kennedy PAC market runs at 9060 212th St. from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 2. More than 60 stalls of decor, crafts, jewelry, art, baking, woodwork and more. Free admission.
  • Pioneer Christmas Sessions: 10:30 to noon or 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 2 at the Langley Centennial Museum. Family of four: $10. Enjoy cookie decorating, crafts, colouring, storytelling, pioneer toys, a gift, and a visit from Santa. Registration and info: 604-532-3536 or RecExpress.ca.
  • Coghlan PAC The second annual sale at the fundamental school, 4452 256th St., is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 2 with more than 30 vendors, and more.
  • Wreath workshop From noon to 4 p.m. on Dec. 2, learn how to make a wreath. $65, includes supplies, instruction and goodies. Must purchase tickets in advance at fortlangleywreath.brownpapertickets.com/.
  • Holly & Mistletoe The United Churches of Langley celebration is at 21562 Old Yale Rd. from noon to 6 p.m. on Dec. 2. For all ages. Nativity sets gallery, $7 luncheon, bazaar, crafts for kids, baking, season books, Santa, carols, concert, and more. Free admission. Info: unitedchurchesoflangley.ca.
  • Soundscape Christmas The a capella group concert is at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 2 in the Willoughby Community Hall, 20809 83rd Ave. Limited seating. Advance tickets from chorus members or soundscapesings.ca.
  • Magic of Christmas The annual event starts at 4 p.m. on Dec. 2 with entertainment and crafts followed by the parade at 6 p.m. on the one-way section of Fraser Highway, and then a tree lighting in McBurney Plaza and carolling.

  • Kensington Prairie The annual sale is Dec. 2 and 3 at the farm, 1736 248th St., between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Free admission. Tours of the farm with 55 alpacas are by donation to the Quechua Benefit, which provides medical care, clothing, shelter, food and more to the poor in Peru.

Dec. 3

  • Winter concert The Langley Concert Band hosts Edge on Down to Christmas at 3 p.m. on Dec. 3 in the Fort Lions Seniors Hall, 88th Avenue at Glover Road. Admission by donation (kids free).
  • Variety Show The Township’s Canada 150 holiday concert is 2 p.m. on Dec. 3 at the the Chief Sepass Theatre. Free but registration required (604-533-6106). Enjoy Rachel Button, The Kwerks, Portraits of Us, Kellie Haines, and more.
  • Silver Jubilee The concert of season favourites by the Langley Community Chorus starts at 3 p.m. on Dec. 3 at the United Churches of Langley, 21562 Old Yale Rd. $18 for adults and $10 for students (12 and younger admitted free).   • Christmas open house Backyard Vineyards has live music and treats 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 3. Take donations for the Langley Food Bank.

Dec. 5

  • Make Christmas cards Preschool and primary school age kids can make thumb and handprint cards 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. on Dec. 5 at the Fort Langley Library branch, 9167 Glover Rd. Supplies provided. Christmas stories told. Register in advance at 604-888-0722.

Dec. 6

  • Expressivo The D.W. Poppy Secondary Music Department fundraiser starts at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 6. Food trucks, coffee and dessert, balloon pop fundraiser, raffle and silent auction. $12. More than 200 students perform in five concert bands, two concert choirs, two jazz bands and a jazz choir. Tickets: dwpoppymusic.com.
  • Pyjama storytime The Muriel Arnason Library, 20338 65th Ave., hosts holiday themed stories, songs, rhymes and more. at 7 p.m. on Dec. 6. Kids can wear PJs and bring a stuffie. Free. Info: 604-532-3590.

Dec. 7

  • Go kart fundraiser Visit Fast Track, 5760 Production Way, on Dec. 7 for the annual Sources Langley Food Bank fundraiser. Bring non-perishable food donations for a free, first-come first-serve race (five minutes) between 6 and 8 p.m. Info: fasttrackkarting.ca.

Dec. 8

  • Night of Lights Brookswood has family fun 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 8 at 40th Avenue and 200th Street. See the window decorating contest, meet Elsa, photos with Santa Paws, kids crafts, fill the truck with donations of blankets and warm clothing, hot chocolate, music, treats and more. Dec. 9

  • Breakfast with Santa Santa is at the Aldergrove Kinsmen Community Centre, 26770 29th Ave., for breakfast between 9 and 11 a.m. on Dec. 9. Free for all ages but people must register in advance at RecExpress.ca.
  • Light Up Parade Aldergrove’s annual parade is at 6 p.m. on Dec. 9 on Fraser Highway. Also enjoy carol singing and free hot chocolate, and the presentation of the Walter Levy trophy in the Christmas home decorating contest.
  • Christmas concert The First Capital Chorus annual concert starts at 7 p.m. on Dec. 9 in the Willoughby Reformed Church, 20523 72nd Ave. Chorus joined by the Langley Children’s Choir and the Langley Ukulele Ensemble. Tickets: $20 for adults, $10 for children. At Auld Philips, Westland Insurance, and Beach Basket Giftware in Walnut Grove. All proceeds to the Langley Christmas Bureau. Info: firstcapitalchorus.org.

Dec. 10

  • Holiday fun From 2 to 4 p.m. on Dec. 10, families can enjoy free activities at West Langley Hall, 9308 208th St. Ages one to six can do crafts, cookie decorating, stories, games and more. $2 per child. Must register at RecExpress.ca. Info: 604-882-0408.

Dec. 12

  • Green screen photos Get a photo taken with a Christmas background of your choice using a green screen (photos emailed). Free all ages. Muriel Arnason Library, 20338 65th Ave., from 2:30 to 4:40 p.m. on Dec. 12. Hot chocolate, cookies, and seasonal music. Info: 604-532-3598.

Dec. 18

  • Christmas concert The Silver Belles & Beaux Choir perform at the Langley Seniors Resource Centre at 2 p.m. on Dec. 18. Free admission but must pre-register at 604-530-3020 or the front desk. Coffee, tea and goodies by donation.

Dec. 22

  • Pancake breakfast Enjoy breakfast at D.W. Poppy Secondary, 23752 52nd Ave., 7:45 to 8:30 a.m. on Dec. 22, organized up by school breakfast bistro volunteers, home ec. students, leadership students, and the Fort Langley Lions Club. Music by school choirs. Take photos with Santa’s elves. Wear Christmas colours. $2 minimum donation to the breakfast program.
