  • Electric Express Join the Fraser Valley Heritage Railway for rides Dec. 16 and 17. Six trips per day to travel back to Christmas 1917 and visit the workshop of Father Christmas. Adults: $20. Seniors and students: $15. Kids three to 10: $10. Tickets: fvhrs.org or 604-574-9056.
  • Charity gift wrapping At Willowbrook Shopping Centre daily from Dec. 7 to 24. 100 per cent of proceeds go to the Langley School District Foundation.
  • Donations The Langley Literacy Association provides books for Langley Christmas Bureau gifts to children. The public can donate funds at the Langley Early Years Centre (in Willoughby Elementary) or by mail to the association, 20388 Douglas Cres., V3A 4B3.
  • Volunteers Help with Christmas in Williams Park. Public greeters: Dec. 1 to Dec. 15, 5 to 9:30 p.m. Take down: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 16 and 17. Sign up: 604-532-7350 or parksadmin@tol.ca.
  • Carolling Everyone is invited to McBurney Plaza on Dec. 9, 15 and 23 for carol singing and hot chocolate between 5 and 7 p.m.
  • Glow The light display and market at Milner Village Garden Centre, 6690 216th St., is open until Dec. 30. Food trucks, live entertainment, light gardens, pop up shops, and more.   • Fort Langley Christmas Free admission for events throughout the day from Dec. 22 to 30 at the Fort Langley National Historic Site. Giant Christmas tree, Kwantlen stories, chestnuts roasting on a fire, cedar ornament making, treats and more. Site closed Dec. 24, 25 and 26.
  • Handel’s Messiah The Chilliwack Symphony Orchestra and Chorus has performances at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 9 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 20676 Fraser Hwy., and on Dec. 10 at Sts. Joachim and Ann Church, 2827 273rd St. Tickets: chilliwacksymphony.com or 604-795-0521. $15.
  • Market From 4 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 8 and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 9, Murrayville Hall, 21667 48th Ave., has more than 40 vendors. Free parking. Free entry.

Dec. 7

  • Go kart fundraiser Visit Fast Track, 5760 Production Way, on Dec. 7 for the annual Sources Langley Food Bank fundraiser. Bring non-perishable food donations for a free, first-come first-serve race (five minutes) between 6 and 8 p.m. Info: fasttrackkarting.ca.

Dec. 8

  • Night of Lights Brookswood has family fun 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 8 at 40th Avenue and 200th Street. See the window decorating contest, meet Elsa, photos with Santa Paws, kids crafts, fill the truck with donations of blankets and warm clothing, hot chocolate, music, treats and more. Dec. 9

  • Swing Dance Christmas Party All ages are invited to a Swing Dance Christmas Party on Saturday Dec. 9 from 8 to 11 p.m. at Trinity Western University’s Robson Hall. Introductory swing dance lesson at 8 p.m. and dancing from 9 to 11 p.m. with a DJ. No partner needed. No dance experience required. Students: $2. All others $5. Bring a Christmas snack to share.   • Breakfast with Santa Santa is at the Aldergrove Kinsmen Community Centre, 26770 29th Ave., for breakfast between 9 and 11 a.m. on Dec. 9. Free for all ages but people must register in advance at RecExpress.ca.
  • Children’s party The Aldergrove Elks host the 23rd annual celebration at the legion, 26607 Fraser Hwy., from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Special guests, face painting, Santa, elves, refreshments, prizes and more. Free.
  • Light Up Parade Aldergrove’s annual parade is at 6 p.m. on Dec. 9 on Fraser Highway. Also enjoy carol singing and free hot chocolate, and the presentation of the Walter Levy trophy in the Christmas home decorating contest.
  • Parade afterparty The Aldergrove Business Association’s fourth afterparty is 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 9 at 27309 Fraser Hwy. Seasonal music, hot dogs, popcorn, hot chocolate, and tree lighting. Bring a non-perishable donation for the food bank.
  • Christmas concert The First Capital Chorus annual concert starts at 7 p.m. on Dec. 9 in the Willoughby Reformed Church, 20523 72nd Ave. Chorus joined by the Langley Children’s Choir and the Langley Ukulele Ensemble.   • Someone’s Coming for Breakfast The Willows Church hosts a Santa breakfast at R.C. Garnett Elementary, 7096 201st St, on Dec. 9 at 10 a.m. Pancake breakfast, crafts, games, treats and a photo with Santa. $4 a person or $15 for a family. Info: thewillowschurch.ca.
  • Farmers market The Langley Community Farmers Market winter market is Dec. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kwantlen Polytechnic University campus.

Dec. 10

  • Breakfast with Santa Krause Farms and Estate Winery hold the annual fundraiser in memory of Liz Krause on Dec. 10 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Breakfast by donation. Santa visits around 10 a.m.
  • Holiday fun From 2 to 4 p.m. on Dec. 10, families can enjoy free activities at West Langley Hall, 9308 208th St. Ages one to six can do crafts, cookie decorating, stories, games and more. $2 per child. Must register at RecExpress.ca. Info: 604-882-0408.
  • Gift of Christmas Local MP Mark Warawa’s annual family event is 2:30 to 4 p.m. on Dec. 10 in the Aldergrove Kinsmen Community Centre, 26770 29th Ave. Music, treats, a visit from Santa.
  • Young People’s Opera Society Performs at 7 p.m. on Dec. 10 in the Langley Seniors Resource Centre, 20605 51B Ave. A joint fundraiser. A retelling of the Gift of the Magi. Tickets: $20 for adults, and $15 for youth and seniors. Available at the seniors centre.

Dec. 12

Dec. 14

  • Christmas with the King Elvis Elite show is at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 14 in the Cascades Casino Summit Theatre. Tickets: $25 plus fees.

Dec. 16

  • Old Fashioned Christmas Musical Fort Langley National Historic Site for a special event Dec. 16 at 5 p.m. Enjoy carols around the fire, Indigenous music performances and a musical Dickens reading. Photo booth, heritage activities, hot drinks, baked goods, tourtière and cookie decorating. $9.30 for adults, $3,90 for youth. Free for children five and younger. Dec. 18

  • Christmas concert The Silver Belles & Beaux Choir perform at the Langley Seniors Resource Centre at 2 p.m. on Dec. 18. Free admission but must pre-register at 604-530-3020 or the front desk. Coffee, tea and goodies by donation.

Dec. 22

  • Pancake breakfast Enjoy breakfast at D.W. Poppy Secondary, 23752 52nd Ave., 7:45 to 8:30 a.m. on Dec. 22, organized up by school breakfast bistro volunteers, home ec. students, leadership students, and the Fort Langley Lions Club. Music by school choirs. Take photos with Santa’s elves. Wear Christmas colours. $2 minimum donation to the breakfast program.
  • Christmas workout The deadline to sign up is Dec. 20 for the Fitness Foundation festive workout on Dec. 22 to benefit the food bank. Book sessions at 5, 6 or 7 p.m. Minimum $15 donation to participate. Work out under the Christmas lights and to holiday tunes. Info: justin@fitnessfoundation.ca.
