The Terry Fox Run in Langley City is set for Sept. 18, but organizers putting out the call early for some helpers.
Namely the local organizing committee for the run through Langley City is looking for people to be stationed along the route, explained Tom Barichello, on the organizing committee.
Run route marshals ensure walkers stay on course and cheer on participants.
“All volunteers with be given a reflective vest, partnered up and stationed at a specific location on the run route for the duration of the run and then returned to Douglas Park,” he said.
The walk features one-, five- and 10-kilometre routes.
There’s opportunities for people to help just on race day and the event usually wraps up by lunchtime. It’s typically a three to four hour commitment. Or people can help in the time leading up to the annual run with the organizational aspects.
Anyone interested can contact Barichello at 604-534-0650 or tom_sharron_shaw.ca, or contact Marg McGuire-Grout at mmcguiregrou@yahoo.com.
