People can share a Christmas meal during the holiday season courtesy of various local businesses and organizations.
On Dec. 9, the Kalma Restaurant, 20555 56th Ave., has a Community Christmas Dinner starting at 5 p.m. In addition to a hot meal, there’s live entertainment.
The Gateway of Hope offers a community meal daily at the shelter and transition centre at 5787 Langley Bypass.
“We are having a lovely sit down Community Christmas Meal on Monday, Dec. 18,” said Gateway fundraising coordinator Krista Hannan.
The meal will be served between noon and 1:30 p.m.
“We have several groups from the community as well as some of our regular volunteers helping out that day. We invite anyone in the community to come out, as well as of course all of our shelter guests. We have wonderful volunteers who will help serve people and, with so many additional people attending, we’ll probably have two sittings,” she noted.
Gateway will be getting help to offer this traditional turkey dinner with all the fixings from Envision Financial, Living Waters Church, Gateways regular volunteer contingent, JD Farms, and Sunglow Foods.
The downtown Dairy Queen will not be hosting a community dinner this year.
St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 20676 Fraser Hwy., has its 25th annual Christmas community dinner on Dec. 25. The doors open at 4 p.m. and dinner is at 5 p.m.
