Langley families got to sample face painting, barbecue, and bouncy castles along with information about local health services Saturday.

Langley Community Services Society (LCSS) held its second annual Community Health Fair and Family Fun Day at their offices on 207th Street.

Events included meetings with RCMP officers, a giant inflatable slide, and booths from local health care providers.

The goal is to connect people with all kinds of services, including doctors, pharmacists, mental health providers, and even the Special Olympians.

The whole project was pulled together with the help of a small army of volunteers, noted Mary Tanielian, the manager of settlement and integration services for LCSS.

“It’s a lot of the youth that have come out to volunteer with us came in as clients themselves,” Tanielian said. “They arrived as refugees in both the Township and City, and have now given back to the community.”

The youth and adults helping out included a large number of Karen, Syrian, and Iraqi refugees who have arrived in Langley over the last decade.
