Nominees sought for the 2018 Environmental Hero Awards.

Do you know an environmental hero worthy of acknowledgment in Langley.

Well, the nominations are open, and prize money is up for grabs, in an awards initiative headed up by Langley-Aldergrove MP Mark Warawa.

There are three categories: Youth 18 years or younger, individuals, and finally organizations or businesses.

There will be a bronze plaque and heritage apple tree planted in their honour.

Plus, there is a $500 prize being offered up that is donated to a local environmental organization of the winners’ choice.

Ahead of last year’s awrds, Warawa said: “As citizens of our great country, it is our responsibility to be good stewards of the land that we are so fortunate to live in. These awards were created to celebrate the difference that environmental heroes make and to remind us all of the need to work together to protect a beautiful, abundant environment. Thank you to all Langley residents who take pride in our community by working to protect the environment. “

This award has been given out for the past 11 years.

““Thank you to all Langley residents who take pride in our community by working to protect the environment,” Warawa previously said, when announcing past winner.

Since its inception, more than a hundred Langley residents and organizations have been nominated and recognized for their contributions to the community.

Deadline for entries is April 20, and the winner will be announced during an event at the Fort Langley National Historic Site on June 9.
