Letter: Langley resident responds to SOGI

Schools should be about music and math, science and literature, not sexuality.

Dear Editor,

In response to Rob Fleming’s short article ” Province supports SOGI and students” from the Oct. 5 issue, shouldn’t everyone feel safe and included in terms of all the students and not just those who identify as [LGBTQ?

He wrote a number of times about the incivility and safety of our school environment. However, he failed to mention many different forms of bullying such as race, colour, ancestry or even against students who are proud heterosexuals.

It would be wise to teach the next generation respect for each other, and abstinence in order to prevent an ever growing number of STDs. Let’s promote a healthy lifestyle, with the focus on education in science, physical literacy, music, sport, and art, but not revolve entirely around SOGI 123.
