It wasn’t about numbers in attendance, or amount of money raised – although those were apparently strong numbers.
Langley’s inaugural Pink Gala was about raising awareness for Kimz Angels and the work founder Kimberly Snow and her team of 40-some angels have been doing for the past 17 years to collect and deliver clothing, furniture, non-perishable food, baby necessities, kids’ toys, school supplies, shelter, and other basics to struggling families and individuals in Langley.
Recently, the woman who is always present and giving at other charity galas in Langley throughout the year, chose to host her own gala, and in doing so shattered her own expectations for the inaugural event.
“I’m so thankful for that evening. No one can beat that night with all the strength, power, and love in that room,” she said.
The Pink Gala, as it was dubbed, sold out, Snow said, calling the support they received that night as humbling.
The gala was held at the Glass House Estate Winery on 0 Avenue, and featuring live entertainment from Elvis impersonator Steve Elliot, what Snow called an “awesome” silent auction, and speeches that she said “had everyone in tears.”
“It was definitely the gala of the century. [It] wasn’t about money, [it] was about awareness of mental illnesses, homeless, saving one silently suffering soul at a time,” she said, describing it as the event of her dreams with the food and so much more.
It was about connections, added Snow, who is already planning for the second annual gala.
“Next year, look out, it will be the second gala of the century.”
