Pit bull enthusiasts from western Canada and the U.S. arrived in Langley Friday through Sunday for competition and confirmation shows.

The event took place at the Langley Riders Society Arena in Brookswood.

The American Pit Bull Terrier Association held events including a weight pull and a “top dog” event with a wall climb, as well as confirmations.

There were approximately 50 dogs at the show, said club member Meghan Turnbull.

A junior handlers competition was also held, with longtime pit bull judge Joe Burford guiding the younger members through the event.

The dogs are popular because they love to compete, and exercise is a great way to bond with them, Turnbull said.

“They have really good drive,” she said.
