The late Bays Blackhall has been honoured with a provincial Medal of Good Citizenship.
Blackhall was one of 19 British Columbians receiving the award for outstanding community service.
“It is an honour to congratulate these community leaders whose commitment helps strengthen our society,” said Premier John Horgan.
Flags flew at half mast in Fort Langley in the spring of 2017 when Blackhall passed away. She was involved with the Fort Langley Legacy Foundation, the Fort Langley Community Association, and with organizing Douglas Day and May Day celebrations.
With her husband, Bob, she was given the Eric Flowerdew Volunteer of the Year Award in 2007.
She was also a frequent letter-writer to local papers and spoke out on issues of community development, particularly around Fort Langley.
