People could sample an array of dishes that ranged from savory creations such as blackberry curry or to mroe traditional fare such as blackberry cobbler at the anual Blackberry Bake-Off Thursday.
While judged sampled the 19 submitted blackberry dishes to determine the winners, the public was able to decide the people’s choice aware winner. The winners: Dee Stead with Jane Spearing in second place and Dracaena Kelpin in third place.
Hosted by the Langley Environmental Partners Society, the bake-off happens at the Langley Demonstration Garden where community groups also had booths to raise public awareness about environmental issues or offer activities at the family-oriented event.
The bake-off started in 2001 to spotlight the invasive Himalayan blackberry and enjoy the dark, sweet fruit.
