Her granddaughters made her do it.
When Grace Terpstra said she couldn’t remember how long it had been since she last sat on Santa’s knee Heidi, Carla and Jill Robinson insisted she join them for a group photo and Terpstra complied.
“I can’t believe you talked me into it,” she said, laughing.
They were among the 170 people who took part in the annual Pioneer Christmas at the Langley Centennial Museum on Saturday.
For the day, the museum was transformed into a virtual pioneer Christmas town with various stations to show how the holidays were celebrated way back when.
In one room, young visitors listened to a holiday tale read by Mrs. Santa, while in another, gingerbread houses were under construction.
For eight-year-old Grace May, the key was applying as many sprinkles as possible to her project.
The Township-owned museum at 9135 King St. offered two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon session.
Since 2003 the museum has been presenting a historical enjoyment of Christmas featuring crafts and games that allow children to check out pioneer toys, decorate a mini gingerbread house, and mail a letter to Santa at the historic post office.
